About Us

About Us

Founded in 2004, the Large Breed Dog Rescue (LBDR) is a small charity that as the name implies rescues and rehomes large and giant breed dogs. We are based in Kent, but we will rescue and rehome from all over England, Scotland and Wales.

We have a strict non destruct policy and never euthanise unless advised by a vet due to ill heath. We neuter and microchip ALL dogs before rehoming them.

Many of the dogs that find their way to us, have been abused, mistreated or simply had no training at all. We will always take the time to rehabilitate and restore trust in the human race.

All potential homes are vetted and we do follow up checks once the dog has gone to its forever home. LBDR offer lifetime back up should there ever be a problem. We try our very best to match the right home to the right dog.

All we want is for all of our dogs to live long and happy lives in their new homes, but if needed we are always available for help and advice. If for any reason the new family cannot keep and care for the dog any longer, then we always take the dog back.

LBDR is run by a group of volunteers that help with everything from admin to fundraising. Dog walking to cleaning out kennels, fostering to transporting and so much more.

Without their help and unwavering support, LBDR would not exist and we would not be able to help the many dogs that come into our care. Together we all make up LBDR and we are very much a team.

All donations are put back into the rescue so that we can continue to help dogs in need.

LBDR is a registered charity, No.1154504
